Meet Chris Thornton, the Executive Chef and Owner of one of Newcastle’s top establishments, Restaurant Mason. After opening in November 2011, Restaurant Mason received its first Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide Award, One Chef’s Hat in its first year. Since opening it has been extremely successful.
Chris has previously worked at Hatted and Michelin Star establishments, including Restaurant II in Newcastle and The Ledbury, in Notting Hill, London respectively. In 2013, Mason also added a catering arm to the business – catering to Weddings, Private Dinner Parties, Corporate functions and special occasions.
The CHEF2CHEF Event
In August, Chris Thornton hosted a CHEF2CHEF event at Restaurant Mason, attended by over forty guests in the Newcastle region within foodservice. The event featured the launch of the CHEF range of Liquid Concentrates & Pastes and PLAISTOWE 70% Cocoa Dark Couverture Chocolate. Chris created a five course tasting menu featuring these products which was enjoyed by all. Check out the menu below and hear about his experience with the event.
